1.5 million People die each year from this disease

Hepatitis is a deadly disease that affects your liver. If left untreated you can get cirrhosis of the liver and die. This disease has treatments and vaccines but because so many people are unaware of the disease and the symptoms there are still a high number of deaths.

This disease affects more people that are affected by HIV and it is 100 times more infectious. The awareness of this disease is very low and the World Hepatitis Alliance is trying to change this.

World Hepatitis Day is on 19th May and is the start of a large campaign that is intended to increase the awareness of this disease and promote the ideas of getting tested if you think you are at risk of being infected.
