Math Comic Strips Has Just Released “The Innovative Dr. Knowledge”…

h1 Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

We are entering a new global economy…one in which our children will need to compete with other children around the world. In this digital age of massive distractions, such as video games and television, we have a lot of competing media for our children’s attention. To many children math is complicated and boring and too much like “work”. We needed a way to make learning math fun.

The comic book format is ideal for a number of reasons. For starters, the humble comic book has stood the “test of time”. Before the 24 hour cartoon network was even thought of, children would huddle, under their blankets, late at night, comic and flashlight in hand, and read about their favorite “hero”. Comic books are an ideal visual learning tool, very portable, requiring no additional attachments or electricity, or even an internet connection.

The web site: www.math-comic-strips.com has just released their flagship item, an educational math comic called “The Innovative Dr. Knowledge”. While Dr. Knowledge is not a “Super Hero” in the classic sense of the word (he has not been bitten by an insect or arrived from another planet), he does possess some incredible math skills. He was able to acquire these skills by doing his math homework and studying other subjects as well. He is able to utilize these abilities to solve some incredible crimes and problems. Our hope is that children will become enchanted with his adventures and have their own desire to study math.

When our hero was young, he lost his mother, and had a rather problematic childhood in many respects. While on a trip that his father hoped would encourage and motivate his son, he got shipwrecked on an island. It was on this island that he found his love of math and other subjects. He used this knowledge to solve the various problems that the island threw his way. In many ways, the island showed him practical applications of math.

Bobby was eventually rescued, and made his way back to the “civilized world”. He pursued a more formal education in math, and eventually earned his PhD in mathematics at a very prestigious university. His math skills helped him to acquire great wealth. He was also able to use these math skills to solve crimes and problems, and make the world a better place.

We hope that you will enjoy reading their flagship comic book, “The Innovative Dr. Knowledge”. We hope that you will join them in helping to promote math to our nation’s children. Who knows, math comic strips may never be the same…

Of course they offer use a glimpse into our history every time we make one, and sit back to enjoy the wonderful ambiance that fire can bring to a room.

Owning a fireplace is so rewarding if you think about curling up on the sofa in a heated room and just watching the flames dance. It is relaxing and can set the tone for an enjoyable evening for the whole family. But, it also comes with a lot of responsibility, in that the sparks and embers could cause a lot of damage in the room. The inevitable ember will fly from the fire which in turn burns your floor or even curtaining if close enough. If you do not take the necessary steps to combat this problem, you could end up losing your home to a fire.

It is absolutely imperative to protect your home and your loved ones with a screen which has a dual purpose. Make sure when you shop that you get durable ones which are made of cast iron, glass, copper or brass. Durability is your number one priority and second should be aesthetics.

Having said that, there a countless forms, shapes and sizes available to us which are decorated in wonderful art work and colors. We can also have screens customized to suit the fireplace’s style and form. In stores today there are ones which fold up if you are not making a fire or those that stay in front of the fireplace and is used as an art piece to marvel at.

A word of advise, make sure you take the exact measurement of your fireplace as this could greatly help with sourcing the perfect fit for the open area. Also safety before beauty is the order of the day here. Make sure that your screen is 100 percent safe and won’t melt or fall over.

Buying the right screen for your fireplace can help it esthetically, and keep the dirt contained. Some people choose to have multiple Fireplace Screens so they can change their decor with some screens for casual use, and others that come out on special occasions or holidays.

Jeff Bridges has always enjoyed the warmth received in front of the fire he currently runs a website where he sells fireplace screens. There they promote many differently styles, colors, and designs of fireplace screens.

h1 Friday, December 4th, 2009

Crib bedding patterns present more choices than you can even imagine so be sure to have a few ideas in mind before you set out to buy lest you become overwhelmed. You must makes some decisions about your bedding, whether you would rather it feature sports or animals or whether you would rather see a basic pattern of toile or plaid or checks when you walk into your young child’s bedroom.

Remember to consider the rest of your home’s decor before making a final decision on the right bedding pattern for your child’s room. People who have classical choice are always attracted to pastel shades and traditional patterns in furnishings while those who have more latest choice are attracted to vibrant colors and abstract geometric patterns.

If you find yourself actually trying very hard to think of a design for your child’s nursery linens, then you should be given an advice that you will undoubtedly face an unnerving task when you really come across the huge range of boy baby bedding. Those who have no particular leaning toward one design can pick a popular pattern that’s always right for any beautiful nursery.

The simple yet classic pattern of plaid is a noted favorite as it is not only suitable for a masculine nursery it also allows parents free range of selection for colors and styles. Also, the nice thing about plaids is that they can be paired with almost any decorative motif, from rough and ready cowboy bedding to sports logos or a lovely maritime theme, or simply combined with solid colored fabrics.

The buyers who have made up their mind on a definite design for their child’s room, should then divert their minds to the thought-provoking work of making a search for protective and standard bedding that will not be too harsh on their estimated expenditure. Baby bedding which can be bought as part of a composite set is adequately safe for your babies and you need not worry anymore as dimension of linens that come with them are strictly according to the standard crib bedding measurement.

When you buy a crib set you can get a great deal as well as some extra pieces like window coverings or diaper stackers that will match the rest of the set in your baby’s bedroom. Hens In The Shady Retreat: Contemporary Imaginings On A Prized Top Ten

h1 Saturday, November 28th, 2009

Today’s parents continue to choose duck designs for the nursery, as much as the many generations before them. For the baby’s bedding, there are eye-popping yellow and orange duckling patterns that create an upbeat environment in the nursery. These ducklings can be combined with mother ducks to symbolize the bond between parents and children, and they frequently are.

Duck crib set will be a sure hit in the bedroom of any child, and can be coordinated with many bright colors without difficulty. If you really want a duck theme in your little girl’s room, there are many traditional patterns to choose from but you might also be surprised to learn that this long-lived design has been reworked by contemporary designers and now involves new colors as well as detailed fabrics and sewing techniques.

Ensure that any and all duck-themed bedding and accessories are as safe for your little girl as possible. Crib bedding should be made to fit a standard crib well to prevent accidental suffocation or strangulation of small babies.

Baby girl crib bedding with duck pictures can come in gingham or calico, or in pink satin sets for the most effeminate of girls’ tastes. Duck baby bedding can be added to many different nurseries, including the barnyard or pond themed rooms.

Given the huge variety of duck themed bedding, many parents choose a coordinated set of matched baby crib bedding. Standard size quality linen sets can usually be found reasonably priced. They allow parents to decorate well at a low price, and at a low risk of allergic reactions due to contents.

Although the duck does not seem like a very impressive image, it has long been viewed in various world traditions as an example of the power of truthfulness, plain living, and self-reliance. This will help you ensure that your daughter’s duck-themed nursery is cute and tranquil enough to comfort her and please her visitors.

Homeschool Software ? How to Make Homeschooling Fun!

h1 Thursday, October 1st, 2009

When you set out on the path of educating your child at home, you are faced with many decisions and challenges that you may not have expected when you first undertook to homeschool your child. One such decision is the type of tools you will use in order to help your child learn. Homeschool Software is an amazing addition to the collection of traditional teaching aids that parents have available to help with the education of their child.

Most children would agree that introducing computer games into their school day would definitely make their homeschooling fun! But before you go ahead and buy any computer programs, you need to answer this question: will my child actually benefit? In other words, every child learns differently. Some children may not be suited to online learning. Once you’ve determined that computer learning will be beneficial, now comes the hard part – how do you choose the subject(s) your child will use computer software to learn? And once you’ve decided THAT, how do you choose from the bazillions of programs available? It seems that the decisions never end, but trust me, that this is the hardest part. Once you’ve gotten past this point, you’ll quickly experience the benefits that homeschool software possesses.

Different children will have different ideas of what a ?fun? homeschool software program is. There are all sorts of topics and styles that current programs provide, and without a doubt you should be able to find something that is fun for your child, at the same time providing a valuable learning experience. Interactive games are probably the most fun, along with simulation programs (music), learning exercises, logic puzzles ? the list is endless.

So how do you find the perfect combination of educational and fun? This is going to depend on a combination of factors: your child, your chosen curriculum, and your budget. Your child?s preferences with respect to game styles will determine what style of software you will look for. The focus of your curriculum will determine whether you choose math/reading/sciences games, or alternatively you may determine that the curriculum already covers enough subjects and you are looking for something which will stimulate your childs imagination. And lastly, budget will play some role in what you choose ? educational software doesn?t necessarily have to be expensive, although it can be. For example, there are many free online games which will work on particular skills ? hangman, scrabble, Sudoku, google sketchup for art hour, etc. On the other hand there are many homeschool software titles which have been specifically designed to provide a very specific and organized learning experience, along with built in facilities for measuring your child?s progress.

Something to remember when designing a homeschool education is the social factor that children miss out on, and the impact that this social aspect has on learning. For some children, the competitive nature of group activities is a strong motivator. One of the ways you can introduce this competitive aspect is with homeschooling software. Trying to improve a best score, moving up a level, or competing against the computer can be a great learning incentive.

One more valuable feature of homeschool software programs is their flexibility. This includes the range of levels each program contains, so your child can start on a level that perfectly suits their current ability, as well as ability of the program to progress in difficulty at exactly the right speed that suits the child. A secondary benefit to the variety of difficulty levels within one program is the potential for using the same software package with children at different ages. All together, the interactivity, challenging nature, and customized skill levels make homeschool software a very flexible and valuable learning tool, which adds an incredible fun factor to your childs homeschool day!

Changing Pads – Additional Care for Your Baby

h1 Friday, September 4th, 2009

You can never be too careful with your baby, as countless children are injured every year in preventable situations. All parents know that situations do arise where the baby will be left unattended for a few seconds and, unfortunately, this is usually when accidents happen.

Fortunately for parents, a new breed of changing pads is now available that will help you keep your baby safe, while still having the same functionality as a traditional changing table. These changing pads are a great way to provide your baby with optimal support on the changing table, without getting in your way as you attempt to change the baby.

In addition, these changing pads are large by nature and completely adjustable, so you will never have to worry about your baby outgrowing it. The design is meant to accommodate babies of all sizes, which means that you will not have to buy a new changing pad as your baby gets older.

At the same time, however, these changing pads have a functional use, as they protect your baby from ever falling off the table. A changing pad fits right on top of any changing table and makes it virtually impossible for your baby to ever fall off. If your baby does make a drastic movement that would make him or her fall off the tables, you can trust that the safety belt will ensure that the baby does not actually fall. This safety belt is in place as an added precaution and is especially useful if you have to leave your baby unattended for even a few seconds.

Another safety feature is a safety belt, which acts just like a seatbelt does in a car. This safety belt will hold your baby in place if you must leave him or her unattended for a few seconds, which will give you the peace of mind that you need.

No changing pad on the market is designed with as many safety features as this one, which is what this industry should be all about. Even if your baby is larger than most and has some extra weight to worry about, he or she will be completely safe, especially if the pad is mounted.

While the changing pad is large enough to support older babies, it is also secure enough to support newborns, as it is completely adjustable to meet their needs. In addition, the safety belts are equipped with elastic, so they will never be too tight against your baby’s skin.

The safety mechanisms alone make these changing pads completely worth the cost, but when you factor in the size and the comfort that they include, it is a great deal for any family. You can even keep the changing pad around once your baby is grown because these items are durable enough to be used for the next addition to your family in the future. Pick up your changing pad today and you will genuinely see the difference between these pads and any other pad on the market. Your baby deserves nothing but the best, which is what these changing pads provide.

Making Sure That Your Dance School Understands Young Students

h1 Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

When looking for dance schools for your child you should take into consideration whether the school is actually geared to young children. Many schools accept all ages of students but do not really pay attention to the special needs of young students. They can often be more business oriented and less interested in students well being and success.

An obvious indicator is when schools just use their older students to train the young children. The reality of this situation is that younger children probably need the advice and tuition of a professional teacher more so than the older students. The role of a teacher is a science, it isn’t just about putting a person in charge of a group.

The teachers have to be knowledgeable in instructing young children and be able to build up a connection with them. Once they do this the child will feel extra confident and learn faster. You must meet up with the teachers at the dance school prior to enrolling your child. Once your child is enrolled at the school you will need to make a good bond with the teacher, so that you can supervise your child’s progress.

There needs to be a good balance of fun and dance for young children to really do well. If the class is all dance and no fun they will lose interest. Conversely, if the class is all fun and no dance it’s not what you were looking for.

Again, it’s a really good idea to take a look at the class yourself before you enrol your child. It will be very easy to pick out a class that doesn’t have a good balance. Pay attention to the children and see if they are engaged and enthusiastic. Also pay attention to the way they dance. Kids learn dance best when there is that even balance of dance and fun.

A friendly atmosphere is another important element with teaching young children. If the class atmosphere is cold and uncomfortable, a young child will soon lose interest and ask not to attend the class anymore. Children can be extremely sensitive to frosty atmospheres and they soon start to let you know that they don’t want to be a part of that atmosphere any more.

You can check out a dance school or teacher by going to performances and trusting your senses. If it feels right then it probably is and you should start considering enrolment. Live performances are usually showcasing the schools best talent, so go along and see what they can do.

Researching a dance school is just like researching a job or purchasing a new car. Don’t just make a decision after looking at the first school. Take the time to look at a few options and talk to you child about their own preferences. It’s also a good idea to take into account any particular styles that your child might be interested in, so you can concentrate on the organizations that deliver that type of class. It isn’t hard to start to get a feel for what you need if you do your homework and consultation.

Baby Shower Centerpieces: 4 Quick & Cute Ideas

h1 Thursday, February 19th, 2009

The happiest and most exciting day in a couple’s life is when they find out they’re expecting a child. If you’ve decided to host a baby shower for the happy couple, you can create sweet Baby Shower displays and centerpieces with the following four quick and cute ideas:

The Diaper Cake – This has become one of the most popular baby shower centerpieces everywhere. A diaper cake is made up of a package of disposable diapers tied together into a circular shape and then stacked on one top of each other, with the largest bundle on the bottom and the smaller “layers” on top, like a wedding cake shape. You can customize it according to the sex of the baby and add plenty of embellishments like stuffed animals, pacifiers and other baby items cascading down the sides. You can even add a “cake topper” by placing a few helium balloons or a baby piggy-bank at the top.

Baby Gift Basket What a practical and sweet centerpiece to make for the baby shower. Find a nice sized willow or wicker basket with a sturdy handle and decorate it with ribbons or fabric in baby prints or pastels. If you know the sex of the baby, use either pink or blue, if not then use a pale yellow or green. Once you have it all decorated, simply set it in the middle of the table and place baby gifts inside. As the guests of the baby shower come in, they too can add to the basket to fill it up. The basket will get years of use after the shower ends as it can be used to stack diapers, clothes or toys for the baby’s room.

Noah’s Ark This super cute baby shower centerpiece is suitable for anyone expecting twins or multiples. As you shop for the baby shower, pick up several of the same stuffed animals, baby animal toys or other baby toys and tie them together in bunches of two of more. Then tie each bundle to a helium balloon, which are then placed together in a grouping or box on the table to be used as a centerpiece. The parents can then take them home the tie them to each of the baby cribs or bassinets to decorate the nursery. Each child will have their own special toy to enjoy.

Rubber Ducks Fill a round fishbowl with cute rubber ducks in lots of different colors. Then place this bowl in the middle of the table as a centerpiece. For more fun, attach balloons to the rubber ducks and include little prizes inside to be given away as door prizes. Or you can mark them with numbers or words and use them to play games with the baby shower guests. At the end of the party, everyone should have a rubber duck to take home with them to remember this special event.
